With us, you will have a central role in the school's pedagogical work. As a librarian at Väsby School, you are an integrated part of the teaching and work closely with teachers and school management to support students' learning from preschool to grade 9.

About us

Väsby School is a F–9 school with approximately 610 students and around 100 employees. We have a great linguistic and cultural diversity – 39 languages are represented among our students. This is an important starting point in the development of the school library's media collection and activities.

We have a well-functioning student health team and a strong focus on creating an inclusive and knowledge-promoting learning environment where all students are given the conditions to succeed.

About the position

As a librarian, you are an active pedagogical function with a clear mission to promote students' reading and their media and information literacy (MIL). You contribute to developing students' ability to search for, evaluate, and use information as well as think critically. Your main tasks include:

• Pedagogical collaboration: Plan and implement teaching interventions in collaboration with teachers to strengthen students' reading, information management, and MIL.
• Reading promotion: Spark and develop the joy of reading through book talks, reading challenges, author visits, and teaching-related initiatives. You are also responsible for introducing new students to the library's activities.
• Media and information literacy (MIL): Teach and guide students and staff in information searching, source criticism, and the use of digital and analog tools that support learning and accessibility.
• Media development: Ensure that the school library has a diverse and relevant media collection that develops in relation to the needs of teaching and the students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
• Development and quality: Drive and develop the school library's activities in line with the school's goals and governing documents and contribute to the school's systematic quality work in collaboration with school management and working groups.

The school library operations in the municipality are in a development phase. You will be offered support in shaping and developing the assignment, in dialogue with school management and the municipality's central function for school library development.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

• a degree in library and information science or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• good knowledge of children's and youth literature as well as digital learning resources.
• experience in teaching information searching and source criticism.

It is meritorious if you have:

• experience in cooperative learning.
• worked with language and knowledge-developing approaches, preferably in a multilingual environment.
• experience working with students with reading and writing difficulties as well as with accessibility tools such as Legimus.

Other: A criminal record check is required before employment.
